Mossad Chief: Vows Mission Continues Until Iranian Regime Falls

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – Israel’s intelligence chief revealed that the Mossad carried out covert operations deep inside Iran’s capital during the recent U.S.-Israel military campaign, declaring that the agency’s mission is far from over and ultimately aims at the fall of the Iranian regime.

Speaking at a Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony, Mossad Director David Barnea said operatives worked “in the heart of Tehran,” providing precise intelligence that enabled Israeli airstrikes against missile systems threatening civilians.

“We brought precise intelligence to the Air Force, and we hit missiles that threatened Israel,” Barnea stated. “But our mission has not yet been completed.”

Barnea emphasized that the campaign against Iran was never expected to end with the conclusion of direct military strikes. Instead, he said, the operation was designed as part of a broader, ongoing effort that would continue even after the fighting subsided.

“We planned intensively for our campaign to continue and achieve results even in the period after the strikes in Tehran,” he said.

In one of his strongest public statements to date, Barnea declared that Mossad’s responsibility will end “only when this radical regime is replaced,” framing regime change in Iran as a central objective.

“That regime, which seeks our destruction, must pass from the world. This is our mission,” he said. “We will not stand by in the face of another existential threat.”

Barnea tied the current conflict to the lessons of history, warning against complacency in the face of rising threats against the Jewish people.

“Those who naively believe that the Holocaust belongs to the past… are mistaken,” he said. “The Iranian threat grew before our eyes, almost without interference.”

Reflecting on the recent conflict, known as Operation Roaring Lion, Barnea said Israel, alongside the United States, delivered a significant blow to Iran’s strategic ambitions, particularly its missile and nuclear programs.

“At our side, in a strong alliance and historic cooperation with the world’s most powerful country, we fought together for the values of justice and freedom,” he said. “Forty days of intense fighting brought significant achievements.”

However, Barnea acknowledged that regime change did not materialize during the initial phase of the war, despite expectations from some political leaders. He reiterated that such an outcome was never anticipated to occur in the midst of active conflict.

Reports indicate that the Mossad had previously advised both Israeli and U.S. officials that meaningful regime change in Iran would likely only come after a prolonged period following the war, not during it.

Barnea’s remarks mark the first time he has publicly addressed the agency’s role and outlook regarding regime change in Iran. Despite criticism from some quarters, he signaled confidence that the current war has laid the groundwork for future developments.

“Our mission is not yet complete,” he repeated. “We planned for this to continue—and it will.”
