Netanyahu Tells Kushner Israel Remains Firmly Opposed to Palestinian State

Israeli prime minister reportedly drew a clear red line during Gaza talks, as U.S.-backed efforts continue to stall over Hamas disarmament and postwar governance.

JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Jared Kushner that Israel remains firmly opposed to the creation of a Palestinian state, making the position “very clear” during a meeting this week with the Trump adviser, according to a senior Israeli official cited by JNS.

The official said Kushner and other visiting American officials did not press Netanyahu on Palestinian statehood, but the prime minister used the discussion over Israel’s red lines to make clear that he was “100% firm” against such an outcome.

“The other side heard the message very well,” the official told JNS.

The meeting came as U.S. efforts to advance a Gaza framework remain stalled over the future of Hamas, Israeli troop withdrawals, reconstruction, and the broader question of Palestinian political aspirations. Reuters reported that Kushner’s recent talks with Israeli and Hamas officials ended without a breakthrough, with Israel insisting Hamas must be fully disarmed before major reconstruction or withdrawal steps can move forward.

Kushner, who has been involved in Middle East diplomacy since the first Trump administration, reportedly told Fox News that Washington would not support rebuilding Gaza before demilitarization takes place. JNS reported that Kushner said progress could begin within 30 days, including the removal of weapons and the filling of tunnels within 60 to 90 days, though such steps would require cooperation from both sides. citeturn733060search5

Netanyahu’s latest position is not new, but it sharpens Israel’s public posture as international pressure grows for a two-state framework. In June, Netanyahu said there was “no room for two states” between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, arguing that the war had hardened Israeli public opinion against Palestinian statehood.

The issue has remained one of the deepest fault lines in U.S.-Israel diplomacy. Trump’s earlier Gaza framework reportedly included language about a “credible pathway” to Palestinian self-determination and statehood, conditioned on reforms by the Palestinian Authority, including ending payments to terrorists and their families. Netanyahu, however, later said he did not agree to a Palestinian state and that Trump understood Israel’s position, according to JNS.

For Israel, the central concern remains security. The Netanyahu government has argued that a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River would become a launching pad for future attacks, especially after Hamas’s October 7 massacre and the long war that followed. For Washington and Arab mediators, the unresolved statehood question remains tied to Gaza’s future, regional normalization, and the possibility of a broader political settlement.

For now, the talks appear to have reinforced where Jerusalem is drawing the line: Hamas must be disarmed, Gaza must not be rebuilt under terrorist control, and Israel will not accept a Palestinian state as the price of diplomacy.

Worthy News Analysis

Netanyahu’s message to Kushner reflects a hard reality that has shaped Israeli thinking since October 7: the debate is no longer theoretical. For many Israelis, Palestinian statehood is not viewed merely as a diplomatic concession, but as a potential security threat if the governing culture remains tied to jihad, rejectionism, and the glorification of terrorism.

That is why the Hamas disarmament question sits at the center of the entire Gaza discussion. A political framework that leaves Hamas ideology intact, even if its weapons are temporarily reduced, would do little to change the spiritual and strategic conflict at the heart of the war.

From a biblical perspective, Jerusalem remains the burdensome stone spoken of by the prophet Zechariah. While negotiations may continue, proposals may be revised, and diplomats may search for a political settlement, Scripture points to a final confrontation in which the nations gather against Jerusalem. That reality gives this moment deeper prophetic weight: the battle over Israel’s borders is not merely a matter of diplomacy, but part of a much larger struggle over God’s covenant purposes for Jerusalem and His people.
