(Worthy News) – Israeli leaders are preparing for the possibility that war with Iran could resume within days, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a second limited security cabinet meeting in 24 hours amid growing coordination with Washington.
An Israeli official told i24NEWS there is “a high level of alert” ahead of a possible return to fighting by the end of the week. The meetings followed Netanyahu’s Sunday phone call with President Donald Trump, who has warned Tehran that time is running out to reach a deal.
Following the call, Trump posted on Truth Social that “the clock is ticking” for Iran and warned that Tehran must move quickly or face severe consequences. Trump later said he had paused a planned U.S. strike after Gulf leaders urged him to allow more time for negotiations, but he added that he would wait only a “limited period of time” before deciding whether to resume military action.
Israeli media reported that officials in Jerusalem believe Trump’s public warnings have narrowed his options. Unless Iran presents a dramatically stronger proposal, Israeli leaders increasingly expect the United States may act militarily — with Israel likely coordinating closely on any renewed strike.
Netanyahu’s Monday night security meeting reportedly lasted nearly five hours and included the IDF chief of staff, air force commander, military intelligence chief, operations directorate head, and other senior defense officials. The session focused on ensuring Israel’s readiness for a potential American strike and broader escalation.
Signs of heightened concern also emerged elsewhere. Netanyahu canceled court testimony scheduled for Wednesday, while President Isaac Herzog withdrew from an upcoming New York event, citing the sensitive security situation in the Middle East.
Tehran’s latest proposal, according to Iranian state media, calls for an end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, the withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas near Iran, reparations for damage from the war, sanctions relief, the release of frozen funds, and an end to the U.S. maritime blockade. Reuters reported that Pakistan, which has served as an intermediary, passed the proposal to Washington.
However, the terms appear similar to earlier Iranian demands that Trump rejected. Iran continues to deny it is seeking nuclear weapons, though it has enriched large quantities of uranium to 60%, a level close to weapons-grade and widely viewed as having no civilian justification.
With negotiations stalled, oil routes under pressure, and Israel on high alert, the coming days could determine whether the region moves toward another diplomatic pause — or a renewed military campaign against the Iranian regime.
