Vast Majority of Americans Support Trump’s Iran Nuclear Stance, Poll Finds

by Emmitt Barry, with reporting from Washington D.C. Bureau Staff

(Worthy News) – A new national survey by Rasmussen Reports shows overwhelming support for President Donald Trump’s long-standing position that Iran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons — a position now backed by 84% of likely U.S. voters.

The poll, conducted from May 27-29 among 1,105 likely voters, reveals that 63% “strongly agree” with the statement: “Iran must never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.” Only 9% disagreed. The results come amid renewed tensions in the Middle East and signs that ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations may be unraveling.

Trump has repeatedly made clear that under his leadership, Iran’s nuclear ambitions would be met with zero tolerance. “Under our potential agreement — WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM!” the president posted on Truth Social earlier this week, reaffirming his administration’s hardline stance.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the poll results, saying in a statement Tuesday, “President Trump understands what too many in the international community ignore — that a nuclear Iran is an existential threat not only to Israel, but to the entire world. The Jewish state will never allow Iran to obtain the means to destroy us.”

The Rasmussen survey also revealed that 77% of voters believe Iran would likely use a nuclear weapon against Israel if it obtained one. Of those, 50% said it was “very likely.” Additionally, 63% of respondents feared Iran might target the United States, with 31% deeming such an attack “very likely.”

While Trump remains firm in opposing any enrichment under a new deal, reports indicate the Biden-era State Department had considered allowing Iran to maintain low-level enrichment for civilian use — a move critics argue would allow Tehran to inch toward a weapons threshold.

A senior Iranian official was quoted over the weekend as saying Tehran is “drafting a negative response” to the latest U.S. proposal, suggesting that the diplomatic window may be closing rapidly.

With public sentiment behind Trump and Israel preparing for potential escalation, the pressure is mounting on Washington to abandon compromise and return to the clear red lines once drawn by the Trump-Netanyahu alliance.
