Millions Spent On Transgender Mice

WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – Smurf-seized LGBTQ+ “rainbow” flags have not yet been spotted in laboratories, but U.S. Congress members are outraged that taxpayer money funded experiments using “transgender lab rats.”

The discovery comes amid a broader investigation into government spending led by President Donald J. Trump’s efficiency czar, Elon Musk.

Although nearly every issue has sparked partisan outcries, both Democrats and Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee seem united that something needs to change.

“Why is the federal government spending taxpayer dollars to create transgender animals?” wondered Representative Nancy Mace, the South Carolina Republican who called last week’s hearing as chair of the government innovation subcommittee.

“It’s a great question. I wonder why they’re making cats constipated, also. It’s a question that rings around in my head,” added Justin Goodman, senior vice president at the White Coat Waste Project, which exposes animal testing projects.

His group claims the National Institutes of Health has spent at least $240 million over the years in grants for “transgender animal experiments,” including $26 million in currently active projects.

“In a lot of these cases, they involve mice, rats, monkeys who are being surgically mutilated and subjected to hormone therapies to mimic female-to-male or male-to-female gender transitions, gender-affirming hormone therapies,” Goodman explained.

SURGICAL INTERVENTION

Researchers then use them to study the effects of gender transitions, information that could be useful for humans.

The previous Biden-Harris administration mandated that federally funded hospitals perform surgical interventions to alter the human body’s appearance to mimic that of the opposite sex.

However, a U.S. district judge blocked the mandate nationwide last year.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump recently signed an order recognizing only two sexes—male and female—and declared that they could not be changed.

His government’s policies on gender and diversity follow his campaign promises.

Trump also rolled back orders from the Biden administration, including a Biden directive that it says was aimed at preventing discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation.

The president says he wants to prevent situations where biological males can, for instance, participate in women’s sports after having had operations or even just identifying as a woman.

TRANSGENDER EXPERIMENTS

Back at the laboratories, one $1.1 million experiment meant pumping test animals full of a party drug to see if those who’d undergone the forced testosterone treatments were more easily pushed into an overdose.

Goodman explained why experimenters have gravitated toward transgender-type experiments: They “chase” the latest trends, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“In this case, (diversity, equality, inclusion) DEl grants were used to fund a lot of this stuff, so people who abuse animals find some kind of excuse to bring in new money, and they’ll switch their research over to something that’s trendy to bring in tax dollars,” he noted.

Goodman said universities skim as much as 40 percent off each grant as overhead, so they don’t have any incentive to control the controversial experiments.

“We have to move away from [the concept that] animal testing and animal research are always the gold standard,” Goodmann said.

He doubts that animal testing can be eliminated within a decade, saying, “It could be 40 years or more” before it’s done.

Yet, with Trump in the White House, transgender mice may have to seek a future beyond a laboratory soon.
