Israel Strikes Syria After Syrian and Houthi Rocket Attacks

By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News

JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel’s military said it struck Syria early Wednesday after a “barrage of rockets” launched by forces in southern Syria and Houthis in Yemen entered Israel, forcing millions to seek shelter.

Witnesses said sirens sounded in villages and towns across northern Israel and the Golan Heights on Tuesday evening.

“In response to the projectiles launched toward Israeli territory, [Israel Defense Forces] IDF artillery struck in southern Syria a short while ago,” the military said.

Israeli media reported that the IDF responded with artillery fire on southern Syria.

“The IDF recently attacked Syrian regime weapons in southern Syria using fighter jets, following the launches into the country’s territory earlier today,” the military said early Wednesday.

“The Syrian regime is responsible for what is happening in Syria and will continue to bear the consequences as long as hostile activity continues from its territory.”

MULTIPLE LAUNCHES

Defense sources said it is unclear whether the missile launch from Yemen and the rocket launch from Syria were coordinated, and sources noted that the military is investigating

However, “It’s only June 3, and for the third time this month, millions of Israelis are running to shelter because of Houthi missile fire,” observed the IDF earlier in remarks monitored by Worthy News.

The latest strikes come after two rockets were reportedly fired into the Golan Heights from Syria earlier on Tuesday.

The rockets were claimed by “a Palestinian terror organization calling itself the Martyr Muhammad al-Deif Brigades,” but it was unclear if the group is affiliated with Hamas, Israeli media reported.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he held Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa “directly responsible for every threat and firing towards the State of Israel,” adding that “the full response will come as soon as possible.”

Yet Syria’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli strike on the Syrian province of Daraa, saying it caused “significant human and material losses.”
