Israel Strikes Houthi-Used Airport in Yemen, Warns of Continued Escalation

by Worthy News Jerusalem Bureau Staff

(Worthy News) – The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed conducting a fresh round of airstrikes on the Houthi-controlled Sanaa International Airport in Yemen, targeting infrastructure allegedly used for terrorist operations against Israel.

According to the IDF, the strike destroyed an aircraft “used by the Houthis to transport terrorists who advanced terror attacks on Israel.” The military described the airport, like the previously targeted ports of Hodeida and Salif, as a civilian facility exploited for terror purposes.

“This is another example of the cruel use made by the Houthi terror organization of civilian infrastructure for terror activities,” the IDF stated.

Defense Minister Israel Katz later confirmed the strike, saying Israeli Air Force jets successfully eliminated the final operational plane belonging to the Houthis. The last aircraft were destroyed earlier this month during a May 6 strike on the same airport.

“This is a clear message and a direct continuation of the policy we established: Whoever fires at the State of Israel will pay a heavy price,” Katz said.

He further warned of a sustained military campaign: “The ports in Yemen will continue to be struck heavily, and the airport in Sanaa will be destroyed again and again, as will other strategic infrastructures in the area used by the Houthi terror organization and its supporters.”

Katz also declared that the Houthis would face both naval and aerial blockades, reiterating Israel’s stance: “Anyone who harms us will be harmed sevenfold.”

The airstrikes mark the latest escalation in Israel’s campaign to deter and disrupt regional threats emanating from Iranian-backed proxies, including the Houthis in Yemen.
