Israel Obliterates Iran’s Notorious ‘Doomsday Clock’ in Tehran Strikes

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – In a powerful message to Iran’s leadership, Israel announced Monday that it had successfully destroyed the so-called “Israel doomsday clock” during a wave of precision strikes deep inside Tehran. The clock, a provocative symbol of Iran’s long-standing calls for Israel’s destruction, was targeted alongside key regime and security sites as part of Israel’s intensifying military campaign.

Defense Minister Israel Katz made clear that the operation was a direct response to recent attacks on Israel. “For every attack on Israel’s home front, Iran’s dictator will face punishment, and the strikes will continue with full intensity,” Katz vowed.

The infamous digital countdown clock was first unveiled in 2017 during a massive rally in Tehran marking Quds Day (Jerusalem Day), an annual event initiated by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of Iran’s Islamic regime. Quds Day falls on the last Friday of Ramadan and is intended as a show of solidarity with Palestinians and a call for Israel’s elimination. The clock was installed in Palestine Square, a prominent location in Tehran, and featured a digital display showing the days, hours, and seconds “left before the destruction of Israel.” When unveiled, the clock read over 8,400 days–roughly 23 years–accompanied by a giant image of a fist painted in the Palestinian flag colors punching through an Israeli flag.

Over the years, the clock became a fixture of regime propaganda, regularly highlighted during state-run demonstrations and televised speeches by Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who repeatedly predicted Israel’s demise.

Katz confirmed that the strikes on Monday, launched under the directive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, went far beyond the clock. Israeli forces hit regime power centers including the headquarters of the Basij internal security force, infamous for its violent crackdowns on Iran’s own citizens; the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ internal security and ideology offices; and the notorious Evin Prison, where thousands of political prisoners and dissidents have been detained.

“Following the directive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Israel Katz, the IDF is currently striking regime targets and oppressive governmental institutions in the heart of Tehran with unprecedented force,” Katz said.

The destruction of the doomsday clock, long viewed as a symbol of Tehran’s genocidal ambitions against the Jewish state, marked a major psychological blow to the Iranian regime amid rising regional tensions.
