Israel Launches Airstrikes in Gaza As Cease-Fire Ends

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – The Israeli Air Force launched a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, targeting Hamas’ infrastructure and several of its mid-level commanders and politburo members as the cease-fire ended late on Monday.

The IDF has conducted numerous airstrikes, ordered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, in response to Hamas’ preparations for attacks on Israel and their refusal to release hostages. These strikes targeted areas where Hamas was reportedly regrouping and rearming.

An unnamed Israeli military official told Axios that the strikes were a response to Hamas’ preparations for new attacks against Israel. The operation was kept top secret to surprise Hamas, the official added.

Netanyahu stated he directed the military to take “strong action” against Hamas due to their refusal to release hostages and reject ceasefire offers. “Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength,” his office announced.

The White House confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump was consulted before the strike.

“This follows Hamas’s repeated refusal to release our hostages, as well as its rejection of all of the proposals it has received from US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and from the mediators,” stated the Prime Minister’s office.

“The IDF is, at this time, attacking targets of the Hamas terrorist organization throughout the Gaza Strip in order to achieve the objectives of the war as they have been determined by the political echelon, including the release of all of our hostages, the living and the deceased.”

Katz stated that the decision to resume fighting in Gaza was made after Hamas refused to release hostages and threatened Israeli troops and communities.

“If Hamas does not free all of the hostages, the gates of hell will open on Gaza and the murderous Hamas rapists will encounter the IDF in a force they have not yet known. We will not stop the fighting until all the hostages are returned home and the objectives of the war are achieved,” Katz declared.

A senior Hamas official told Reuters that Israel has unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement. “Netanyahu and his government have decided to overturn the ceasefire agreement,” Hamas stated.

“We hold the criminal Netanyahu and the Zionist enemy fully responsible for the consequences of the treacherous aggression on Gaza,” the Iranian-backed terrorist organization stated on Telegram.

Palestinian media claim the strikes across the Strip have killed or wounded at least 100 people. However, the lack of press freedom in Gaza makes it hard to verify the accuracy of these figures.
