(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen toward central Israel in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The projectile, which triggered sirens across central and southern Israel, was intercepted before entering Israeli airspace, preventing any potential damage or casualties.
Red alert sirens sounded across central Israel as a precaution against the potential landing of interceptor fragments within Israeli territory, the military reported. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The Iranian-backed Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack, with Houthi official Hezam al-Asad vowing to continue targeting Israel in an X/Twitter post made about 15 minutes after the projectile was launched. “We will not stop until the aggression against our people in Gaza stops,” he wrote.
This follows a series of Houthi missile attacks on Israel over the past week. On Saturday, a rocket fired from Yemen struck Jaffa, lightly wounding sixteen people in Tel Aviv with glass shards. Earlier, during the early hours of Thursday morning, Yemen launched a missile toward central Israel, prompting Israel Air Force (IAF) fighter jets to strike Houthi targets in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a.
