(Worthy News) – The Israeli Air Force intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen using the Arrow defense system. Sirens sounded across central Israel, causing millions to seek shelter.
“Following alerts that were activated a short time ago in central Israel, one missile that was launched from Yemeni territory was intercepted and shot down before it crossed into Israeli territory,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement.
In a separate incident, the Israeli Navy shot down a Houthi-launched drone over the Red Sea before it entered Israeli territory, according to the IDF.
It is estimated that the Houthis have launched around a dozen ballistic missiles and drones at Israel since early November, with several occurring in the past two weeks.
Although Houthi-fired ballistic missiles have yet to cause significant damage, Israel’s Arrow defense system remains the only system capable of intercepting them, with each interceptor missile costing $2–3 million.
Hezam Alasad, a senior member of the Iranian-backed terrorist militia’s political bureau, stated in a Hebrew-language X post on Monday night, “The Israeli enemy will pay a price for its continued brutal aggression and siege on our people in Gaza [and] its attacks and invasions in Syria.”
