Heavy Rocket Fire From Hezbollah As Israel Continues Strikes in Lebanon

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Several people were wounded Sunday as Hezbollah launched over 250 rockets and drones at northern and central Israel, according to the military and medics. In response to the relentless attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted Hezbollah’s command centers in southern Beirut.

Hezbollah launched about 250 rockets on Sunday, triggering 500 sirens in one of its largest recent attacks, amid ongoing ceasefire talks and Israeli claims that the group’s capabilities are declining.

At least eight Israelis were injured in the rocket attacks, which also caused damage to several houses and buildings from direct hits and shrapnel impacts.

“Hezbollah was planning this escalation in rocket attacks that occurred today and messaging about it, especially after Hezbollah spokesperson Mohammed Afif was killed last week,” wrote Seth Frantzman from the Foundation for Freedom of Democracies.

“It’s possible that the bad weather, low cloud cover, fog, and rain gave Hezbollah a window to escalate and feel more confident rolling out more long-range rocket launchers than normal. This is one of the first bad weather days over Israel and Lebanon as fall becomes winter,” he added.

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) continued its strikes on Hezbollah headquarters and command centers in the Dahiyeh district, the group’s stronghold in southern Beirut.

The IDF reported that Hezbollah’s command centers were concealed within civilian buildings, stating, “Hezbollah conducts its fighting against the citizens of Israel, and directs its terrorist actions to harm the citizens of the State of Israel.”

The IDF emphasized, “All of the targets that were attacked were deliberately placed by Hezbollah in the heart of the civilian population. This is another example of the terrorist organization Hezbollah’s cynical use of Lebanese citizens as human shields.”
