Trump Proposes U.S. Takeover and Redevelopment of Gaza

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – President Trump proposed Tuesday that the U.S. could take over the Gaza Strip, suggesting it could “own it” and even remove Palestinians from the area. Without ruling out the possibility of deploying American troops, he envisioned transforming Gaza into “the Riviera of the Middle East.”

At a White House press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, President Trump said the U.S. will “be responsible” for clearing Gaza, including removing unexploded bombs. Calling it a “hellhole” even before Israel’s bombing, he proposed a “long-term ownership position” to turn it into a global economic and entertainment hub, predicting “phenomenal” results like the French Riviera.

“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Mr. Trump said. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous, unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings.”

Mr. Trump said an “economic development” in Gaza would create “unlimited jobs and housing for people of the area,” bringing regional stability. Calling it a decision not “made lightly,” he claimed, “Everybody I’ve spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land,” adding that “the world’s people,” including Palestinians, could live there afterward.

Trump said the 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza should relocate to “numerous sites or one large site” rather than remain there. Calling Gaza an “unlucky” place and a “symbol of death and destruction for many decades,” he argued it shouldn’t be rebuilt and reoccupied by those who have “stood there and fought for it and lived there and died there and lived a miserable existence there.”

“Instead, we should go to other countries of interest with humanitarian hearts,” he said, adding that there are “many.” He proposed building “domains” for relocation, funded by “neighboring countries of great wealth.”
