(Worthy News) – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Congress on Tuesday that there is no military solution to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
“There is no military solution to this crisis, right?” Rubio said during testimony Tuesday. “It will have to end in a negotiated settlement.”
He added: “And the fundamental challenge we have in Ukraine is this: Russia wants what they do no currently have and are not entitled to and Ukraine wants what they cannot regain militarily.”
Rubio’s frank assessment of the conflict comes less than a day after President Donald Trump tried to push forward with a ceasefire between the two nations on Monday. Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in separate phone calls on Monday.
The president afterward said that a ceasefire may finally be in reach.
