Netanyahu Heads to Washington as Trump Pushes ‘Deal of the Century’

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is on his way to Washington for more than just ceasefire talks with Hamas. According to Dan Diker, president of the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, the visit is part of a strategic momentum push toward what many are calling a revived “Deal of the Century” — an ambitious and far-reaching Middle East peace initiative championed by President Donald Trump.

“This is a momentum play,” Diker told ILTV News. “Netanyahu has held a consistent red line for over 20 months — the complete removal of Hamas as a political and military force in Gaza. If there is a real ceasefire agreement in motion, we should expect to see Hamas leadership deported from the Strip.”

The diplomatic flurry comes on the heels of a secret visit by Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman (KBS), who met with President Trump and senior U.S. officials in Washington on Thursday. Multiple sources confirmed the meeting to Fox News, describing it as a pivotal moment in de-escalation talks with Iran and broader negotiations to end the war in Gaza.

Key to the discussions was the future of the Abraham Accords — a hallmark of the first Trump administration — and the pathway to normalization between Israel and other Arab states. According to officials, the talks were not limited to Gaza and Iran, but included discussions on normalizing relations with Israel and expanding the Accords to include countries such as Syria and Lebanon.

“There was progress and optimism on all fronts,” sources told Fox News.

Trump’s Middle East team has reportedly reengaged leaders across the region, including outreach to Syrian President Bashar al-Sharaa. In May, Trump offered sanctions relief in exchange for full normalization with Israel. The outreach signals a dramatic shift and expansion from the original Abraham Accords, signed in 2020 with the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently named Syria as one of the key nations President Trump is pursuing for normalization, following an earlier historic meeting in Saudi Arabia. Israel Hayom reported Tuesday that Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi sees Syria and Lebanon as the top regional candidates to join the agreement.

Robert Greenway, a former National Security Council director and key architect of the Abraham Accords, said the groundwork for expanding the deals is already in place. “The barriers of entry for expanding the Abraham Accords are incredibly low,” Greenway told Fox Business. “It will not surprise me if President Trump expands the Accords within his second term.”

U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff echoed the sentiment on June 25, calling expansion of the Accords one of the president’s “key objectives” and hinting at major announcements in the coming weeks.

The flurry of diplomacy follows what some are calling the “12-Day War,” in which U.S. and Israeli forces reportedly worked in tandem to curtail Iran’s nuclear ambitions. With momentum building and Trump’s team signaling bold moves on multiple fronts, Netanyahu’s visit to Washington may usher in not only the end of a war, but the dawn of a new regional realignment — and the return of Trump’s signature foreign policy initiative.

Prophetic Significance

While many call for peace through a two-state solution, prophecy teachers often highlight a sobering warning from the book of Joel: the nations are brought to judgment because they “divided” the land (Joel 3:2) — a land God explicitly gave to the descendants of Isaac and Jacob (Genesis 26:1-6; Genesis 28:13-14; Genesis 25:10-12; Psalms 105:8-11 ) For those attuned to biblical prophecy, how this pursuit of peace unfolds carries deep and potentially dramatic prophetic significance. This is further underscored by Jesus’ command to “learn the parable of the fig tree,” widely understood as a symbol of Israel. Just as the fig tree produces early fruit in the spring and ripens fully by the fall harvest, prophecy watchers see a pattern: Israel’s modern rebirth and eventual spiritual harvest align with God’s redemptive timeline. The budding of the fig tree signals that the season is near, calling us to be alert to the times.
