IDF Expands ‘Gideon’s Chariots’ Operation Across Gaza

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Monday that it is expanding operations across the Gaza Strip under its renewed offensive “Gideon’s Chariots,” including intensified airstrikes and targeted operations in Khan Younis and beyond. A spokesperson stated, “The IDF is in the midst of Operation ‘Gideon’s Chariots’ and is operating throughout the Gaza Strip.”

The military struck several locations on Monday night, including Deir al-Balah, south of Nuseirat, and Gaza City. Combat Engineers from the elite Yahalom Unit also destroyed a tunnel in Rafah that had been used to kill two IDF soldiers earlier in May — Captain Noam Ravid and Staff Sergeant Yaly Seror.

In Khan Younis, the IDF attempted to capture Ahmed Kamel Sarhan, a senior commander in the Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, Gaza’s third-largest terror group. Hamas reported that Sarhan “thwarted” the arrest attempt and was “martyred in direct confrontation.” The IDF, however, said there was “no change in the situational assessment.”

In addition to military operations, the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen. Though 50 trucks carrying flour, oil, and legumes were expected to enter Gaza on Monday, and nine more with baby food, observers at the Kerem Shalom crossing reported no visible activity by late morning. UNRWA declined to comment.

Israeli Foreign Ministry director Eden Bar Tal said, “Today, Israel is facilitating the entry of trucks with baby food into Gaza,” adding that “in the coming days, Israel will facilitate the entry of dozens of aid trucks.” However, he offered no specifics on quantities, timing, or exact entry points.

The aid effort is complicated by fears that Hamas will seize the supplies. Netanyahu said that IDF-secured distribution points under U.S. oversight would begin operating “in a few days,” but until then, temporary deliveries would continue to prevent mass starvation among Gaza’s 2.3 million residents.
