(Worthy News) – FBI Director Kash Patel on Monday evening turned over to Congress newly declassified intelligence reports detailing allegations that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) sought to interfere in the 2020 U.S. presidential election. The allegations include claims that China mass-produced fake U.S. driver’s licenses to facilitate fraudulent mail-in ballots for Democrat Joe Biden.
The documents, originally generated in August 2020, were not fully investigated at the time and were withdrawn from intelligence circulation shortly after then-FBI Director Chris Wray publicly stated there were no known foreign plots to disrupt the election, officials familiar with the matter told Just the News.
Patel, who recently assumed leadership of the Bureau, declassified the materials in response to a request from Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). Grassley had raised concerns that prior allegations of election interference were prematurely dismissed despite apparent supporting evidence.
“Thanks to the oversight work and partnership of Chairman Grassley, the FBI continues to provide unprecedented transparency at the people’s Bureau,” Patel said in a statement.
“We have located documents Chairman Grassley requested, which detail alarming allegations related to the 2020 U.S. election. Specifically, these include allegations of plans from the CCP to manufacture fake driver’s licenses and ship them into the United States for the purpose of facilitating fraudulent mail-in ballots—allegations which, while substantiated, were abruptly recalled and never disclosed to the public.”
According to officials who reviewed the documents, the FBI’s source claimed the scheme aimed to create fraudulent voter identities for Chinese nationals residing in the U.S., enabling them to submit fake mail-in ballots favoring Biden. At the time the intelligence surfaced, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reportedly intercepted nearly 20,000 counterfeit driver’s licenses—an incident seen by some officials as potential corroboration of the source’s claims.
However, the intelligence report was quickly pulled back, with the justification that further interviews with the source were required. The alleged plot was not further pursued.
Grassley’s office has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the newly released documents, but congressional aides indicated the material is now under review by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The revelations come amid ongoing debates over election security and foreign interference. They are likely to fuel further scrutiny of decisions made by intelligence and law enforcement agencies during the 2020 election cycle.
